Does 2010 Nissan Maxima require Premium fuel or is it just recommended?

2010 Nissan

The sales manager at a local Nissan dealer told me that Nissan changed it from “required” to “recommended” for 2010. I wanted to find out before buying. Thanks.

  • D says:

does follow the recommendation for better performance

  • Great Scott says:

It is required. The lower octane could cause knocking which will shorten the engine’s life.

What does the owners manual, or gas cap say?

If it says required, it’s required.

    If not, then it’s not.

If you use the cheaper gas the knock sensor on the engine will be working over time and you will suffer power loss and sluggish performance.

Its best the use the higher octane.

  • Windowphobe says:

Required. Period. (”Recommended” ended with the ’08s.)

Myself i would add the the higher fuel i have owned sporty orientated cars over the years and only found problems when adding the wrong fuel Just the other day i went in my Bro’s car to which he is running the wrong fuel which is to ow for his engine we had nothing but problems all the journey.so for that extra cost you will def feel the difference in your car.
