The term “Sports Car” Is not limited to two seaters. Although they are typically(but not exclusively) rear mounted and almost certainly built for the track. The latter of which was emphasized in the engineering and implementation of the GTR. Track times are reflective of this fact. Besides do you realize that if this car is dismissed as you quaintly put it a “Toy” then the term Sports Car is now meaningless as many are now outclassed by this car. No need to buy a Corvette… a mere toy will do!
yes it has been considered a rival to the e92 and it is much faster but still that doesnt make it better. even car and driver would take an m3 even if you took price points out of the comparo. german engineering has always been the greatest nissan didnt just suddenly beat everything with this. its less connected to the driver than the m3. still though, very amazing 0-60 under 4 seconds and family seating. no car that can do that “sucks”.
No Rikkie not just any Nissan and BMW. But if you drove an M5/M3 or M6 back to back with the new GTR on your favorite road I can say without doubt you would be faster in the Nissan. This is purely because the Nissan will let you get away with more mistakes and can put its power to the road more efficiantly. BMW do however make some stunning road cars, thier traction control system is amongst the best I have ever tested. A real driving machine.
