Where will the 2009 Nissan Maxima be built?
I am a fan of Nissan, particularly the Maxima. I owned a 1987 Nissan Maxima SE and while it was not a marque for style,it was the pique of dependability and performance and luxury. As of late, 2004 onwards, I have seen many negative reviews on the first American built Nissan Maxima. Will the 2009 series be built in the US or will manufacture resume in Japan? I love Maximas but refuse to buy American.

Give USA a chance the 2004 to 2006 were ok in terms of dependability. 2007 and 2008 restyled ones even better reliablity and better looking. This next Maxima is on display at the Dallas Auto show next week and it too is american made. More News to come. (rumors abound about the V-8) Japan cars imported include the 350Z, GTR and The Murano.
Then you will have to drive a imported car from oversea factory as most cars are built in USA including Imports. 09’s are built and willbe for sale in October. SE is a great car with upgrades ie spoiler, ground effects cold air induction body wwith side outlets and 18″ wheels with dust covers. Also has killer stereo (BOSE) or (Infinity) I heard 09′ will be 300hp also as zx will be 330 stock without mods.
Its built in Smyrna Tennessee which is just outside Nashville.
Nissan has three production plants in the United States - in Smyrna and Decherd, Tennessee, and Canton, Mississippi. Production at Nissan’s Smyrna Plant began in June 1983. The vehicle assembly plant has an annual production capacity of 550,000 vehicles and represents a capital investment of $2.5 billion. The plant produces the Nissan Altima, Nissan Maxima, Nissan Xterra, Nissan Frontier and Nissan Pathfinder.
The vehicle assembly plant in Canton, Mississippi, began producing vehicles in May 2003. The $1.4 billion plant now produces the Nissan Altima, Nissan Quest, Nissan Armada, Nissan Titan and Infiniti QX56. The plant has an annual production capacity of 400,000 vehicles.
Nissan’s powertrain assembly plant in Decherd, Tennessee, began production in May 1997. Today the plant manufactures all the engines for the complete lineup of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles produced in the U.S. The plant also forges crankshafts, and cylinder block casting operations will begin in the spring of 2008.
Why would you refuse to buy a car built in America? We can put together a car just as good as anyone else. They have been building cars in the US for 25 years.
